Nevada Posts August's Highest Unemployment Rate, North Dakota The Lowest




Unemployment Chart - 1990 - 2010 - Highlight on August 2010 Earlier this week, the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) released the state unemployment numbers for August of 2010.

A total of 27 states registered increases in their unemployment rates in August, while 13 registered decreases.

Nevada (14.4%), Michigan (13.1%) and California (12.7%) reported the highest unemployment rates in August, while North Dakota (3.7%), South Dakota (4.5%) and Nebraska (4.6%) reported the lowest.

Here is a state by state breakdown of August (this breakdown also includes Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, as the BLS also included them in their statistics. This data is available in text file format from the BLS, but we've cleaned it up and made it easily to read):
