Man Utd Notes: 2015-16 was a disappointing campaign for Manchester United, as the club finished in 5th place in the English Premier League, behind the likes of Leicester City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Man City.

This was obviously a subpar performance for one of the world's richest football clubs, which led to the sacking of Louis Van Gaal as manager. Man Utd looked for a high profile manager to come in to replace Van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho certainly fit the bill. While Mourinho spectacularly blew up in his final year at Chelsea, there is no doubt that he is one of the most supremely talented managers in all of the world.

Man Utd set the bar high heading into the 2016/17 campaign, as they managed to sign both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba to deals. These signings completely altered Manchester United's expectations heading into this year, as they entered the season with the second best odds of winning the EPL title.

Manchester United also had to deal with the indignation of finishing in third place in their Champions League group, as they were edged out by Wolfsburg and PSV Eindhoven. The club is hoping for better things in the Europa League this season.

With their deep pocketbook, Manchester United managed to transform their club this summer and will be looking to get back on the right track this year.
