Definition of Axis of Evil

What is meant by "axis of evil"? Who coined the term "axis of evil"?

The term "axis of evil" was coined by George W. Bush during his State of the Union address on January 29th, 2002.

Three countries were included in the "axis of evil". They were:

-Iran
-Iraq
-North Korea

All three countries were accused by Bush of seeking out "weapons of mass destruction" and aiding and abetting various terrorist groups throughout the world.

Iraq would later find itself in the crosshairs of the United States, as they were attacked by a US-led coalition in March of 2003. The conflict officially began on March 20th, 2003 - US combat troops eventually pulled out of the country on December 18th, 2011.
