A "category killer" is a company or a product that is so dominant that its competitors have a very tough time remaining profitable and competing.
 The term "category killer" refers to the fact that the dominant company or product will "kill" everyone else in its category.
Let's look at a few examples of "category killers":
1. Walmart. Due to its immense size and buying power, Walmart can offer lower prices than any of its competitors. Many companies, both large and small, have felt the wrath of Walmart's pricing power.
2. The UFC. When it comes to mixed martial arts, the UFC is the 800 pound gorilla of the industry. A number of competitors have sprung up over the past number of years to challenge Dana White and the UFC, but they usually fall and crumble. Some companies just go out of business, while others are absorbed by the UFC.
