Two franchises that are significantly underperforming expectations, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans, will be squaring off on Thursday Night Football this week.
Both teams have been prone to error so far this season, with the Jaguars looking particularly inept on offense. With the short week, don't be surprised if you get a sloppy, mistake-filled game this evening.
The tandem of Blake Bortles and Allen Robinson was supposed to light up the league this year, though both players have looked terrible. Bortles seemingly has little control over where his throws go, and any throws that do end up in the hands of Robinson often get dropped. With a weak offensive line and no running game to speak of, the Jaguars have had a very hard time putting wins together this year. Similar to last season, the Jaguars have often gotten crushed in the first half of their games, only to make things closer than they appear in the second half. For a franchise that was supposed to take the next step higher this season, 2016 has been a disaster.
Marcus Mariota, on the other hand, has looked phenomenal in some games this season while disappointing in others. One day, Mariota will look practically unstoppable, and then the next day he'll seemingly make all of the wrong decisions. If Mariota can start playing with more consistency, the Titans may make a push towards a playoff spot.
One positive surprise for the Titans this year has been the player of DeMarco Murray, who has looked rejuvenated as the starting RB for the team. After an underwhelming stint in Philadelphia, Murray has regained his status as one of the league's elite running backs this year.
Here are the odds for tonight's game:
Jacksonville Jaguars, +3, 5/6
Tennessee Titans, -3, 1/1
Over 43.5 points, 10/11
Under 43.5 points, 10/11
Some of the more interesting prop bets for tonight's game include:
Blake Bortles Over/Under 258.5 yards passing
Blake Bortles Over/Under 38.5 Passing Attempts
Chris Ivory Over/Under 37.5 yards rushing
Don't expect a masterpiece tonight, as a short week combined with two mistake-prone teams should lead to an underwhelming affair.
