Information:

Johnny Manziel is one of the most polarizing and followed players to have entered the NFL in the past couple of decades. Don't believe me? The ratings for the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft were up 48% from the year before and Johnny Manziel is the reason why.

Manziel, aka "Johnny Football", played two seasons of college football at Texas A&M. During his time at the school, Manziel became the first college freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy, Manning Award and Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.

Amazingly enough, Manziel's sophomore season was even better from a statistical standpoint, as you can see from the numbers below:

2012 - 3,706 passing yards
2013 - 4,114 passing yards

2012 - 68.0% completion %
2013 - 69.9% completion %

During his two years at Texas A&M, Manziel passed for 63 TDs and ran for another 30. As a matter of fact, Manziel rushed for over 2,000 yards over the course of his 2 year college football career.

Despite all of the hype, Manziel was taken with the 22nd pick in the NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns. There were some that thought that the Browns would use the #4 pick on Manziel, but they shrewdly took someone else with that pick and correctly assumed that Manziel would fall all the way to #22.

There were numerous concerns about Manziel heading into the draft - was he too small? Would his off-the-field issues be too much for a team to handle? Was he mature enough to put the team first and himself second?

After a couple of very uneven years with the Cleveland Browns, the team decided to release "Johnny Football". In addition to being inconsistent on the field, Manziel got himself into ensnared in several legal issues, embarrassing himself, his team and his family, as well as severely diminishing the value of his brand.

Sponsors have run away from Manziel in recent months, with Nike and others revealing that they had either terminated or refused to renew their deals with "Johnny Football". In addition, Manziel's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, also ditched his client, presumably after coming to the conclusion that Manziel was unemployable in his current form.

Manziel, who had the world in the palm of his head when he left college, now has one of the most toxic brands in all of sports.

--

Johnny Manziel, thanks to a rash of erratic and irresponsible behavior, may have to come to grips with the fact that he may never play again in the NFL.

After the Cleveland Browns cut ties with Manziel at the end of last season, many people expected that "Johnny Football" would head to the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys, however, were not interested in participating in the Manziel circus and elected not to sign "Johnny Football".

The problem is that Manziel is toxic and has shown no willingness to make a meaningful change to his behavior.

Instead of attempting to rehab his image and focusing on getting back into football shape, Manziel has instead continued to dominate headlines on TMZ with his hard partying and legal troubles. This has come despite the protestations of his closest friends and family, who have publicly begged Manziel to get the help that he clearly needs.

At this point, it seems next to impossible that Manziel will ever return to the NFL.
