Information:

The Winklevoss twins were immortalized in the movie "The Social Network", which was released in 2010.

The movie largely portrayed the Winklevoss twins in a positive light, as they were seen as having a legitimate business idea (HarvardConnection, which eventually turned into ConnectU) that was poached by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. According to the Winklevoss twins, they hired Zuckerberg to build HarvardConnection, but Zuckerberg took their idea and created Facebook instead. Zuckerberg disputes that things went down in this fashion, but there is no disputing the fact that the Winklevoss twins received a settlement from Facebook that ended up making them very, very rich.

The Winklevoss twins sued Zuckerberg for $140 million, claiming fraud, but ended up settling for a rumored payment of $20 million in cash plus $45 million in private Facebook stock. At the time that this was written, Facebook's stock was trading at $47/share, which would value the Winklevoss' private shares at around $350 million (assuming that they haven't sold any shares, of course).

The Winklevoss twins would eventually sue Facebook again after the settlement, claiming that Facebook had defrauded them when negotiating the settlement. The twins eventually dropped their suit.

The twins weren't content to just fade off into obscurity with their millions - instead, they used some of their capital to open Winklevoss Capital Management, which, up to this point, has invested in the following companies:

Keepy
BitInstant
Hukkster
sumZero

In addition, the Winklevoss twins have been big proponents of Bitcoin, reportedly amassing an $11 million position with an average cost of about $100/coin. The twins have stated that they own roughly 1% of the Bitcoins in existence.

The twins have been mocked by some, but there is no denying the success that they have enjoyed so far in their lives. They both graduated from Harvard with undergraduate degrees in Economics. They both received MBA degrees from Oxford University. They are multi-millionaires. They are heavily invested in a crypto-currency that has gone parabolic in recent months. They competed in the 2008 Olympics.

It's good to be a Winklevoss twin.
