By Dave Manuel
What does the term "green job" mean? What is the definition of the term "green job"?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics ("BLS"), a "green job" is a job that either:
a) produces goods or provides a service that has a positive impact for the environment or helps to conserve precious natural resources
b) help to make their company's production processes more environmentally friendly, or helps their company to consume less resources
Let's give you an example of both type of job:
Let's say that you work for a company which is trying to produce a vehicle that will run 100% on electricity. In this case, you would be helping to produce a good (electric car) that would have a positive benefit on the environment.
You work for a company that installs solar power grids to help power production facilities for some of the world's largest data companies. This energy is used to help cool servers, power buildings, etc. Not only are you helping to reduce expenses at the companies that use the solar panels, but you are also having a positive impact on the environment.
