Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin Current Frontrunners for 2012 Republican Presidential Nomination

According to Gallup.com, Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin are currently the two frontrunners for the 2012 Republican Presidential Nomination.

As it stands right now, Mitt Romney currently has the support of 17% of Republican and Republican-leaning independents, while Sarah Palin has 15%. Ron Paul (10%), Newt Gingrich (9%) and Herman Cain (8%) round out the top five.

Republican elephantMike Huckabee was the favorite to capture the Republican nomination in recent Gallup.com polls, but he (unsurprisingly) decided not to run in 2012.

Donald Trump, who managed to keep his name in the headlines for 3-4 months straight, also decided that he would not be running for President in 2012.

With Huckabee and Trump pulling out of the race, Romney and Palin have found themselves at the top of the Gallup.com poll.

Will Sarah Palin run for President in 2012? News stories such as this one seem to indicate that there is a very strong chance of this happening. Intrade.com currently lists Palin at 49.9% to run in 2012 - this is up substantially from just a few short weeks ago (the "Palin to Run in 2012" contract was trading at less than 30% at the beginning of May).

Will she or won't she? We should find out soon.
