Definition of Right Wing

What does the term "right wing" mean as it applies to the world of politics? What does it mean if somebody describes themselves as being "right wing" or a "right winger"?

In politics, somebody who is described as being "right wing" is somebody who has more conservative beliefs. On the other hand, a person who is "left wing" is somebody who has more liberal beliefs.

In the United States, somebody who describes themselves as being right wing would very likely vote Republican, while somebody who describes themselves as being left wing would likely vote Democrat.

"Right wingers", or people who are "on the right", tend to believe in things such as lower taxes, strong military spending and deregulation.
