The First Few Days of a Diet or Exercise Program Are Always the Hardest
I guess it's just like any other addiction. If you are overweight, you are addicted to food or being on your couch. Just like when a smoker quits, the first few days of an exercise or diet program are always the hardest.
Take it from me, I should know. I've lost 80+ pounds the hard way twice in my life, and I am just now embarking on an exercise/nutrition program. The first three days are always the hardest. This is because the body is still craving what it is used to having. That daily donut, big bottle of Coke or slice of pizza are pretty hard to say no to when you start a program, because your body is used to having it. Trust me, your body is going to love you once you go a few days without these bad things. It is going to say to you "I can't believe you were feeding me that stuff."
Once you get to about day 4-5 of a new program, you will find that your body doesn't crave sugar, fat, etc. anymore. If you go a week eating nothing but great and healthy foods and then suddenly eat a big greasy cheeseburger, your body is going to express its disdain and make you feel sick.
If you are starting a program and in the first day or two of the program, you are probably thinking to yourself "There is no way I can go through this every day. The cravings are just too much. I constantly feel hungry, and I constantly have headaches from the lack of sugar / caffeine in my diet." Well just struggle though the first couple of days, cause I guarantee you will get better. There will come a time when you will crave chicken and rice for dinner at night, instead of pizza. I guarantee you.
Stick with it. The benefits are just too big. Extreme energy levels, a better body and higher self-esteem all wait at the end for you. What's a couple of days when all of that good stuff is waiting for you?
