$37.8 Million Spent on White House Payroll Last Year

Late Friday afternoon, the White House released the "2012 Annual Report to Congress on White House Salary." The report lists the names and salaries of all White House employees, as well as the names and salaries of everybody who works at the Office of Policy Development.

According to the report, approximately $37.8 million was spent on White House employees in the most recent fiscal year. This is up from $37.1 million in the previous year.

The White House added 14 employees in the most recent year, bringing the total up to 468.

According to Politico.com, the President had a total of 68 special assistants, 22 assistants and 24 deputy assistants last year.

The highest salaried White House employees last year all made $172,200.00. 20 people made $172,200, and their positions included "Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism" and "Assistant to the President and Director of Speechwriting."
