Definition of Alt-Right
What is the definition of the term "alt-right"? What is meant by the term "alt-right" in the United States?
The "alt-right" movement largely consist of those on the far right who reject "mainstream" Conservative beliefs.
The "alt-right" movement surged to prominence during President Trump's Presidential campaign, as Trump espouses many of the beliefs that the Alt-right fervently supports, such as reduced immigration and a hatred of "political correctness".
According to the Associated Press, the "alt-right" movement has "been described as a mix of racism, white nationalism and populism" and that "its members reject the American democratic ideal that all should have equality under the law regardless of creed, gender, ethnic origin or race."
The "alt-right" encompasses a number of different groups, which has resulted in the title meaning different things to different people. Some see the group as racists and fascists, while others believe that the group is simply filled with "true" Conservatives who believe in the Constitution and smaller government.
Many on the far right do not trust their Conservative leaders in Washington, which is why the vast majority of these people embraced Donald Trump for President.
The Breitbart News Network is considered the "platform for the alt-right". Many in the alt-right don't trust the mainstream media, and that includes Fox News.
