Google Adsense Updates The Look of Their Advertisements

Darren Rowse posted on his blog several days ago that Google Adsense was going to be rolling out a fresh look for their Adsense ads, so I headed on over to the Adsense Blog to check it out.

After extensive testing (Google would obviously not roll out such an important change without doing extensive testing first), Google has decided on these changes, best illustrated with a before/after picture from their site:

The new ads are clearly cleaner and less cluttered than the older advertisements. I really like the change, and I believe that these changes will help to increase click through percentages. I have found through years and years of my own testing, that the cleaner and less-cluttered a page is, the more clicks that advertisements will get. I really like these changes, and give it a big thumbs-up. Kudos to Google.
